Ben Maher with small injury after being kicked

Wednesday, 14 November 2012

Luckily Ben didn't get badly hurt. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.British rider Ben Maher was kicked in the head by a horse on Monday. Luckily he got away with smaller injuries. "I'm absolutely fine. I was kicked in the head, but because of the position of the injury it had to be glued rather than stitched," Ben has stated to Horse&Hound.

The accident happened as the horse pulled Ben over and squashed his leg. When the horses tried to get back up it hit Ben in the head. Ben is nevertheless planning to compete in Stuttgart already tomorrow.

On his Twitter account Ben writes:

Thank you to the nurses at Harlow hospital for glueing my head together after an accident this morning #mondaymornings

Thanks to all for your concern. Fine now I've been stuck together. An unfortunate meeting of horse's hoof and my head. #NotVeryClever ;)
