Sunday, 04 May 2014

Bertram Allen and Molly Malone V - winners of the Longines Grand Prix in Lummen. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Bertram Allen and Molly Malone V (Kannan x Cavalier) were untouchable in Sunday's five star Longines Grand Prix in Lummen. In a starting field consisting of nearly fifty riders, Allen was one of two riders to produce a triple clear in the competition. Bertram and the ten year old grey mare finished slightly faster than runner-up Jur Vrieling and the nine year old gelding Flash Dance vd Kalevallei (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Gottwald) in the jump-off to take the win. Third was home rider Jerome Guery on V Pleasure (For Pleasure x Nabab de Reve) with one time penalty in the jump-off.

French rider Anne Sophie Godart – winner of last weekend's four star Grand Prix in Antwerp – ended fourth on Carlitto van't Zorgvliet (Burggraaf x Cheenook) with one down in the jump-off, while another home rider finished fifth; Gregory Wathelet on Sea Coast Forlap HD (Querlybet Hero x Heartbreaker). The latter was also double clear for Belgium in Friday's Nations Cup.
