Big Star back in the ring

Wednesday, 05 February 2014

Big Star returned to competition today in Wellington. Photos: © 2014 Ken Braddick/dressage-news.com.Big Star (Quick Star x Nimmerdor) was back in the competition arena Wednesday for the first time since last August - of course with Nick Skelton aboard in the saddle. The Olympic team gold medal stallion sustained an injury in the end of August last year, and was forced to take a break from competition.

Today Nick rode the 11-year-old KWPN stallion in a 1.25-meter schooling jumper class at the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. “He felt good,” said Nick after the ride. Tentative plan may be to show him again in a schooling class before going back into the big ring.

Big Star came to Florida last November to continue rehabilitation.
