Big Star out with injury

Friday, 25 July 2014

Nick Skelton with Big Star in Aachen last year. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Nick Skelton's fantastic Big Star (Quick Star x Nimmerdor) is injured and will probably be out for about a year. According to Horse & Hound the 11 year old stallion has torn his lower suspensory. Big Star sustained a similar injury in September 2013 and was out for nine months before he made a super comeback being third in the Longines Global Champions Tour in Estoril two weeks ago. This means that Nick and Big Star will miss out on the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy later this year.

Nick says to Horse & Hound that it is frustrating, but that Big Star only is 11 years old and that there is no reason why he shouldn't be back as good as ever afterwards. And that he still hopes for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016.
