Busy 2013 calendar

Friday, 11 January 2013

It is going to be a busy year. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The showjumping calendar for 2013 must be one of the busiest ever. This year sees no less than 56 five star show, 46 four star shows and 133 three star shows planned in the FEI calendar. Three five star shows take place in January, with two of them hosting World Cup qualifiers. February and March see seven five star events around the globe, while April sees one in Paris – in addition to the World Cup Final in Gothenburg.

May and June will be extremely busy; with fourteen five star events in total riders will travel non-stop to shows. Although not specified as GCT events in the FEI calendar yet; if the locations are as predicted there will be crashes between the Nations Cup shows and the GCT events this year as well. Six five star events are in the calendar for July, and four for August – which is also the month of the European Championships in Herning, Denmark. In September six five star shows are planned, while ten are in the calendar for October and November – with several hosting World Cup qualifiers. December has a total of five five star events so far.
