The biggest class of the day went to the stylish Dutch rider Leopold van Asten on the Luidam-mare VDL Groep Amelie. Asten – who celebrated his 35th birthday this week – was fractions faster than Steve Guerdat on the lovely SF-mare Jalisca Solier (Alligator Fontaine x Jalisco B). World Cup winner from Oslo Pius Schwizer was third on Ulysse (Nonstop x Jus de Pommes).
Ben Maher won the first 5* class of the day in Helsinki on Oscar IX (Harcos x Animo). The 1.40 class with a jump-off had 46 riders lined up for the money, but it was speed experts Ben and Oscar IX that could take home the win ahead of in-form Gregory Wathelet – who won two big classes in Oslo last weekend – on the eight year old SF-stallion Phelius Ste Hermelle (Surcouf de revel x Brilloso). Home rider Nina Fagerström was third on Stephex Stable’s Viva (Corrado x Nimmerdor).
Home-rider Anna-Julia Kontio took home the last 5*-class of the day; a 1.40 speed class, leaving Jur Vrieling and Ben Maher behind her in second and third.
