Castle Forbes Libertina thanked off

Tuesday, 07 June 2011

Libertina together with owner Lady Georgina Forbes and Horse Sport Ireland's Chairman Joe Walsh. Photo provided by HSI. Castle Forbes Libertina was officially retired yesterday, and the ceremony took place during the Mullingar Fayre and International Horse Festival in Ireland. Lady Georgina Forbes – who owns the mare – was present at the ceremony, together with Horse Sport Ireland's Chairman Joe Walsh. The 15 year old mare by Libero H x Polydor has now been retired to stud after a remarkable career on the show jumping circuit. According to reports on the web, Libertina will be put in foal to Lady Forbes’ stallion Vivaldo.

During her career with Jessica Kürten, Libertina has won nine 5* Grand Prix in Monaco, London, Dublin, São Paulo, Leipzig, Zurich and Gothenburg. The pair was also victorious in the 2007 Rolex Top Ten Final in Geneva. In the 2006 World Cup final in Kuala Lumpur, they finished second.
