Cicero Z van Paemel’s (Carthago Z x Randel Z) sports career has sadly come to an early end. After a surgery the 13 year old stallion’s owners took a decision together with Cicero’s rider Dirk Demeersman – as well as the veterinarians – to end Cicero’s sports career early. In La Baule earlier this year, Cicero suffered from a minor muscle injury. What seemed to be no big problem unfortunately brought other thing to the surface – the recovery went with difficulty and in the end Cicero had to be operated, and a comeback was in the end impossible.
In a press release Cicero’s owners write:
“That this was a very hard decision, both professionally and emotionally, is obvious. Cicero is not just a horse, he is more than that, he is a “once is a lifetime” horse. He is a part of our family and definitely one of his rider Dirk. According to Dirk the best years of Cicero were yet to come, what makes it all more difficult. We would have loved some more time, but it turned out otherwise […]”
In April 2013 the stallion won a four star 1.50 class in Antwerpen, and in June 2012 he won the three star Grand Prix in Aalst – to mention some of his to performances.
