Denis and Night Train winners of the medium tour in Valkenswaard

Sunday, 14 August 2011

This time it was Denis' turn to win. He was second after Maikel in the big tour on Friday, but in the medium final Maikel had to settle for second place. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Click here for all results and videos from the Global Champions Tour.

Due to the heavy raining during the night several riders left Valkenswaard already this morning but 30 of them stayed for the last class – the final of the Medium Tour. The final went over a 1,50 m course and six riders went clear in the first round.

Denis Lynch and Night Train (Calvaro Z x Papillon Rouge) was more than 1,5 seconds faster than the second placed Maikel van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Sapphire B (Mr. Blue x Grand Veneur). Edwina Alexander, who is based on the showground, was third with Ciske van Overis (Celano x Darco).

The Derby of Valkenswaard had only fourteen riders participating, and only two of these produced clear rounds. The faster of the two belonged to Ben and Great Britain, and home rider Wout-Jan van der Schans had to settle for second on P-Pilot (Epilot x Indoctro). The fastest time of the day belonged to Eric van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Cannelina (Carthago x Sir Shostakovich), but with four faults they were pushed down to third position.
