After an entertaining and crazy fast class, Doda de Miranda won the Longines Speed Challenge at the Gucci Paris Masters. The Longines Speed Challenge is all about going flat out, take the tightest of turns, having a horse with nerves made of steel and also about having luck on your side. Doda de Miranda ticked off all those boxes tonight as he skilfully piloted AD Nouvelle Europe Z (Nelson Z x Jimtown) to victory and 33.000 Euro.
Coming in as nr. 23 to go Doda managed to ride a lightning fast round, but still made it look nice and decent to stop the clock on 59.13 seconds with a clean sheet and no time added. Nobody managed to catch Doda, although they all tried. Christian Ahlmann came closest after giving everything on Aragon Z (Askari x Kolibri), which included coming flying in – more than too far off – into the final oxer. With some luck it stayed in one piece and the German rider slotted into second with a time of 59.48 seconds.
Fourth-last-to-go Roger Yves Bost did all he could for the wild and loud home crowds, who cheered on every single rider as their own. Bosty's efforts were awarded with a third place aboard Sydney Une Prince (Baloubet du Rouet x Alfa d'Elle) with a time of 60.05 – also with a clean sheet like Doda and Christian.
"I have a very quick horse," Doda commented right after his round. "I was surprised to be faster than Gerco though (who was then leading the class). I am of course very happy with my horse."
