Does the apple fall far from the tree? Cumano and some of his offspring

Thursday, 04 April 2013

In this photo series we will take a closer look at some of the sport’s top stallions, and if the offspring bear any resemblance to their sires! Third to go is the amazing Cumano (Cassini x Landgraf I), who was retired from the sport in 2011 during a lovely ceremony in Aachen – where he won the World Equestrian Games in 2006. Photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

The Cumano-daughter Amaryllis, born in 2000 out of the mare Rebecca by Darco. Amaryllis is bred in Belgium, and has been competed at top level for years by Pedro Veniss who also rode the mare at the World Equestrian Games in 2010.
The Cumano-son No Name de Siva, born in 2001 out of a mare by Odin de la Cense. No Name de Siva is French bred, and was for many years competed at top level by Julien Epaillard – but has recently been seen under Spanish rider Rutherford Latham.
The Cumano-son Cantho Z, born in 2000 out of the mare Miss Fidji by Fidji du Fleury. Cantho Z is bred into the Studbook Zangersheide, and competes at international level under Rik Hemeryck.
The Cumano-son Neptune Brecourt, born in 2001 out of the mare Venise Brecourt by Kayack. Neptune Brecourt is French bred, and jumps at international Grand Prix level with Luca Moneta.
The Cumano-daughter Noblesse des Tess is one of the most famous of the stallion’s offspring; jumping to fourth place at the 2012 Olympic Games under Kamal Bahamdan. Noblesse des Tess is born in 2001 out of the mare Philadelphine by Irak E – and is French bred from Haras des Tess.
The Cumano-daughter Nasa has had great success under Steve Guerdat the past years; jumping to victory in the Rolex Grand Prix in Zürich in 2012. Nasa is born in 2001 out of the mare Babischka by Prince d’Elle – and is French bred by Philippe Feron.
Another famous offspring is the Cumano-son Nenuphar’Jac, who jumps with great international success under Michel Robert. Nenuphar’Jac is born in 2001 out of the mare Anemone du Col by Pidayack – and is French bred at Haras de Jac.
