Earley and Maikel van Mierlo win the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championship for 5 year olds

Sunday, 21 September 2014

The top three riders: Maikel van Mierlo, Angelica Augustsson and Marlon Mondolo Zanotelli. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Sunday's final of the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championship for 5 year olds was a fast affair. In a jump-off that turned into a race against the clock, Maikel van Mierlo made it to the top of the podium with the KWPN gelding Earley (Harley VDL x Indorado). Most of the 5 year olds looked amazingly fresh after a long week with competing in Lanaken, and as many as 13 of them made it to the jump-off.

Angelica Augustsson and the Irish bred Ard Ginger Pop (Luidam x Cruising) ended as silver medalists, more than a second faster than Angelica's colleague and boyfriend Marlon Modolo Zanotelli on Cool Clarimo (Clarimo x Concerto) than finished in bronze medal position.
