Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Marcus Ehning and Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) took the win in the 1.50 class with a jump-off in Verona on Saturday. The Premio KEP Italia had almost fifty riders in it, but nobody could beat Germany’s highest ranked rider on the Longines Ranking at the moment who was simply in a class of his own being over four seconds faster than runner-up Edwina Tops-Alexander on Erenice Horta (Diamant De Semilly x Parco). Jur Vrieling had the third and last double clear of the day aboard Zirocco Blue VDL (Mr. Blue x Voltaire), and was followed by his fellow team-mate Maikel van der Vleuten who had the fastest jump-off time but on the expense of four faults.
The 1.50 table C speed class was won by Scott Brash and Bon Ami (Pavarotti V. Helle x Richebourg). With a time of 55.28 seconds, Britain’s super star notched up his second big win for the weekend and beat Roger Yves Bost on Castle Forbes Vivaldo vh Costersveld (Clinton x Randel Z) by over a second. Then followed Norway’s Geir Gulliksen riding Vennoot (Andiamo x Ramiro Z).
The 1.45 speed class went to the world’s number one; Ben Maher. Aboard Aristo Z (Andiamo x Flamenco de Semilly) the British rider had the fastest clear of the class at 56.14 seconds. Then followed another quick rider – France’s Patrice Delaveau on Quenndal de Lojou (Le Tot de Semilly x Galoubet A) at a time of 57.55, while third went to home rider Roberto Arioldi on Lorena 3 (Leandro x Lamerto).
