Marcus Ehning and Leopold van Asten both opened up the CSIO5* show in Rotterdam with each their win on Thursday. Marcus won the biggest class of the day – a 1.55 class with a jump-off – riding Sabrina (Sandro Boy x Landadel). The jump-off had no less than nineteen riders in it, and was full of fast names. In the end it was the German perfectionist who had the fastest clear though in a time of 41.66 seconds. In runner-up position followed Sergio Alvarez Moya and Carlo 273 (Contender x Cascavelle) who stopped the clock on 41.68 – the tiniest of margins behind the winning couple. Third was Marcus' protégé Bertram Allen on Romanov (Heartbreaker x Fedor) in the time of 41.90 seconds. Fastest of all was Penelope Leprevost in 40.95, but the French rider had one down and fell down the result list.
The 1.45 class went to home rider Leopold van Asten riding VDL Groep Amelie (Luidam). Leopold was clear in both phases and had a time of 30.81, leaving another Dutch rider behind him; Leon Thijssen riding Quintera (Kannan x Quick Star) in 31.08. Third place went to Holly Gillott on Vinny Douglas (Ard VDL Douglas x Santa's Sleigh).
