End of career for O'Brien

Saturday, 25 June 2011

O'Brien with Angelique Hoorn in Copenhagen. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The KWPN stallion Blauwendraad's O'Brien (Peter Pan x Goudsmid) will be retired from the sport. Back in 2009 O’Brien injured a tendon and was out of the sport while recovering. Things looked well though as O’Brien returned to the international showjumping scene, and recently the stallion was part of the Dutch Nations Cup team in Copenhagen together with Angelique Hoorn. Unfortunately O’Brien recently sustained yet another injury – causing a decision to end the stallion’s showjumping career.

Under Angelique Hoorn O'Brien was Dutch champion in 2007. O’Brien went to the Olympic Games in 2008, and finished ninth individually. In 2009 the pair was part of the Dutch team at the Europeans in Windsor. O’Brien also has countless of excellent Grand Prix results together with Hoorn.
