Eric Lamaze takes Thursday’s biggest win in Rome

Friday, 23 May 2014

Eric Lamaze continued his great form on Thursday, winning the CSIO5* 1.50 class in Rome on Zigali P S (Kigali x Palfrenier). There were no less than 26 riders that went on to the jump-off, which meant almost half of the riders in the class entered the ring at Piazza di Siena for a second time to chase the clock. Lamaze was the fastest of all though, setting an early target of 37.67 seconds. No one could catch the Canadian rider, but not far behind followed Simon Delestre on Ryan des Hayettes (Hugo Gesmeray) – also he double clear on the time of 38 seconds. Delestre was accompanied by his compatriot Kevin Staut in third riding Oh d’Eole (Kannan x Papillon Rouge) to a time that was 0.62 slower than that of Simon. No less than ten riders were double clear in the class.

Both the 1.40 and the 1.45 class held earlier in the day went to Italian riders, as home riders Emilio Bicocchi and Roberto Previtali won one class each.
