Evita van de Veldbalie sold to Canada

Friday, 14 November 2014

Evita van de Veldbalie - here seen at the World Equestrian Games with Lorenzo de Luca in the saddle. Photo by Jenny AbrahamssonEvita van de Veldbalie (Wandor vd Mispelaere x Clinton) has been sold, and will in the future fly the Canadian colours. The ten year old mare has had huge success with Stephex Stables' Daniel Deusser in the saddle, last year the pair won the Rolex IJRC Top Ten Final as well as the Masters in Stuttgart and in Lyon. This year Evita van de Veldbalie jumped at the World Equestrian Games with Lorenzo de Luca.

It is the Canadian rider Wesley Newlands that has purchased the mare. "I am really excited to add Evita to my string," said Newlands, 26. "She has experience, and I hope she will help me take my riding to the next level, and hopefully to a red jacket."

Newlands continued, "When we tried her, she was very brave, very willing, and it seemed like a very good match. I am so fortunate that my parents are able to help me pursue my dreams."

Newlands trains with John and Beezie Madden, and will be competing throughout the 2015 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.
