The 18 year old Bertram Allen wasn't satisfied with his silver medal in the five year olds' championship, so he went in and took the gold medal for the six year old horses at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships in Lanaken! The talented rider rode Barnike by Baldwin B x Animo, and the pair showed off in the jump-off. No one was even close to take their time even if twelve riders and horses had the chance to try.
"I have never been jumping this big with her before," Bertram said after his round and he was noticeably pleased with the horse that he bought at the beginning of the summer.
It was a difficult course that the six year olds had to solve, and the triple combination placed away from the entrance caused most headache for the riders. But as many as thirteen horses cleared the track and twelve of them went on to the jump-off as Erica Swartz with Compadre van de Helle (Casall x Concerto II) got one time fault.
Marcel Willems on Calimera was the one who got the closest of catching Bertram's time and could thus hang the silver medal around his neck. Calimera is by Van Gogh x Perion, bred by M. and P. Leijser and owned by the rider together with Stal Ger Poels. Third place went to Kristian Houwen with Cidane by Heartbreaker x G. Ramiro Z, bred by G.J.W Silkes.
