The top three riders in the FEI Zangersheide Sires of the World. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Karline de Brabander and Fantomas de Muze (Sandro Boy x For Pleasure) won the 1,50 m FEI Zangersheide Sires of the World in Lanaken after an exciting jump-off on Saturday. 49 stallions took part in the prestigious class, but only 11 of them made it back for the jump-off. The faults kept coming against the clock as well, and it was only the top four that delivered a double clear round.

Karline went in quite early in the jump-off, and put some real pressure on her competitors with her round in 48,56 seconds. Nicola Philippaerts with Forever d'Arco Ter Linden (Darco x Tenor Manciais) got closest with a round in 48,75 seconds while Erika Lickhammer ended third with 50,07 seconds riding Giljandro van den Bosrand (Orlando x Clinton).

Fourth place went to Nick Vrins on Galisco van Paemel (Cicero x Feinschmitt). Both Jessica Kürten on Arezzo VDL (Chin Chin x Heartbreaker) and Niklas Arvidsson on Click and Cash (Cashandcarry x Capitol I) managed to be faster than Karline, but with four faults each they had to settle for the fifth and sixth position.

Karline was very happy after her big victory, but explained that she ahead of the weekend wasn't sure about brining Fantomas de Muze to Lanaken and that this was the biggest class so far in his career. Nicola's stallion just came back from Spruce Meadows, but as Nicola said; "He came out of the plane as a lion and now he got a couple of days to recover and he is feeling really fresh."

Nicola only has good worls to say about Forever d'Arco Ter Linden: "I think he can be one of my best horses. He still needs a bit time, he is still a bit hot and a bit strong but he needs to get the experience."

Erika got the ride of her stallion this summer, and it was just shortly before this show that she decided to ride him here: "I have just done two international shows with him before this and this was his 1,50 m debut. I knew that he is a really good horse, but I didn't quite expect this."
