Farewell to Jalisca Solier

Sunday, 26 January 2014

Too sad; on Sunday the amazing Jalisca Solier was put to sleep. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Steve Guerdat has – with deep sorrow – announced on his website that his amazing mare Jalisca Solier has passed away. Tragically - the 17 year old mare, who was retired in Geneva right ahead of Christmas, had an accident in the field at home that caused an irreparable fracture in the leg that forced the decision to put Jalisca to sleep.

With Steve, Jalisca was one of the best horses in the world – she won the European team gold medal at Windsor in 2009, the team bronze medal at the Olympics in Hong Kong in 2008, she won the Grand Prix World Cup Geneva and Vigo in 2006 and 2007, the Rolex Top Ten Final in 2010 as well as many more victories.

On his website Steve writes that Jalisca will be one of the most beautiful things that have happened to him in his life. “I could never thank you enough for everything you did for me. I'll miss you my princess Lisa, I love you,” the Swiss rider writes.

Our thoughts go out to Steve and Heidi, and Mr. Yves G. Piaget.
