French victory in the First Horse Grand Prix in Copenhagen

Sunday, 22 May 2011

Frank Schillewaert and Marquis de la Lande won the Grand Prix in Copenhagen. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The 1.50 Grand Prix class at the CSIO4* in Copenhagen Sunday was won by French rider Franck Schillewaert and the Selle Francais stallion Marquis de la Lande(Quito de Baussy*Waiti x Starter). The class counted 43 riders to start and only eight of them crossed the finish line on a clean sheet after the first round. The eleven best riders got to ride the second round as well, but this time it was only Schillewaert who managed a clear round on the time 54.96.

Both Dermott Lennon and Janne-Friederike Meyer beat Schillewaert’s time by severeal seconds, but that didn’t help them as they each had one pole down aboard Kalvinretto (Kildare x Calvin Z) and Celagon Lambrasco (Achill Libero H x Coriolan).

Tina Lund gave the home crowd something to cheer for when she secured the fourth place with one fence down in both rounds.
