The first international jumping class of the day was again dominated by British riders; much to the home crowd’s amusement. The class was an accumulator, and was won by Guy Williams on a relatively new horse; Titus – a 10 year old gelding by Kanjer. Williams was followed by Laura Renwick and Roller Coaster III in second place and the winners from the night before – Ben Maher and Oscar IX.
But Williams didn’t stop there – he also won the Earls Court Olympia Christmas Cracker, a 1.55 class. In this class he rode Torinto van de Middelstede, and they were 1.28 seconds faster than runner-up Marc Houtzager on his WEG-partner HBC Tanimo. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson managed to grab the third spot aboard Ninja la Silla, while Billy Twomey was fourth on Tinka’s Serenade. Williams certainly proved why he was the leading rider last weekend in Geneva.
The night’s 1.40 speed class was yet again won by a Brit – this time it was Ellen Whitaker who went all the way on Royal Rose, a 12 year old stallion by Calvados. Cian o’Connor on last night’s winner Umberto managed to sneak in before Laura Renwick – who dominated Thursday’s classes.
The puissance was one by Ben Maher and Noctambule Courcelle – securing the last victory of the day for the Brits.
