The winner of the Sunshine Tour Grand Prix; Matthew Sampson. Photo by M. Steiger. The stallion Kannan is the common denominator when it comes to the winners of this weekend's Grand Prix classes at the different tours going on around Europe. At the Sunshine Tour in Spain the 3* Grand Prix went to Matthew Sampson and Kavanagh IV (Kannan x Carousel). The British rider had one of six double clear rounds in the class, but with a time of 44.02 seconds he was a little faster than runner-up Michel Robert on the 11 year old Kannan-daughter Oh d'Eole who crossed the finish line on 44.40 seconds. John Whitaker and Argento (Arko II x Gasper) were third at 44.97 seconds, and with William Funnel in fourth on Billy Angelo (Tangelo van de Zuuethoeve x Kroongraaf) it was a good day for the Brits in Spain.

At the Toscana Tour it was French on top in the 3* Grand Prix, as Roger Yves Bost took home the win. Aboard Castle Forbes Vivaldo van het Costervelds (Clinton x Randel Z), Bosty did a double clear round - one of eleven in the class. With a time of 34.56 seconds, the French rider left Nicola Philippaerts on Cortez (Quick Star x Quito de Baussy) and Katharina Offel with Cathleen (Cordobes I x Ramiro's Son I) to a joint runner-up position as both had the time of 35.35 seconds. Fourth was home rider Roberto Turchetto on the 15 year old Baldini-son Baretto.

The 3* Grand Prix at the Atlantic Tour went to Trevor Breen on Adventure de Kannan (Kannan x Ladalco). The Irish rider had one of five double clears in this class - which counted more than 50 riders, and left Marie Hecart on Rhune d'Euskadi (Dollar du Murier x Jus de Pomme) behind him in second with as little as 0.17 seconds separating them in the jump-off. Third place went to Isheau Wong riding Zadarijke V (San Remo x Havidoff).

The 2* Grand Prix at the Vidauban Spring Tour was won by Marc Bettinger and Quannan-R (Kannan x A Lucky One). The pair left Annelies Vorsselsmans on Cleveland (Quite Easy x Good Future) behind them in second, and the Dutch rider was 0.83 seconds behind Bettinger's time in the jump-off. Third was Kamal Bahamdan and Cezanne (Calido I x Corofino I) - also they double clear, but over a second slower than the runner-up.
