Full Arbitral Award from CAS in the cases against Al Eid and Sharbatly

Wednesday, 18 July 2012

Abdullah Sharbatly. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.A month after CAS issued its decision in the cases against Khaled Al Eid and Abdullah Sharbatly, the full Arbitral Award has been issued. On the 11th of June, the Sole Arbitrator issued his decision against the two Saudi Arabian riders. The Sole Arbitrator partially upheld the appeals and reduced the periods of ineligibility from eight to two months, which by then had been already served by the two riders – allowing them to compete at the Olympics. The full award with the grounds did not follow, but this is now available on CAS’s website.

Abdullah Sharbatly has later qualified for the Olympics, and is on the Saudi Arabian team that is heading for London. Khaled Al Eid’s and his horse Presley Boy will not go, as Presley Boy is recovering from a colic attack.
