George Morris to undergo cancer treatment

Friday, 13 April 2012

George Morris - legendary US Chef d'Equipe. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The USEF reports that their showjumping Chef d'Equipe George Morris will be undergoing treatment for prostate cancer this spring. Morris will nonetheless remain in his position as Chef d'Equipe and will stay closely involved with the selection process for the Olympics, even though he will be unable to travel to the observation events. Morris has asked his successor from 2013 Robert Ridland to attend the observation events and monitor the technical aspects of those competitions and report to Morris.

Morris is expected to be fit and able to return to the horse show circuit by early summer. It is expected that Morris will be able to travel in time to prepare the team in Europe for the Olympic Games and attend that Championship.

WoSJ wishes George Morris a speedy recovery!
