Gerco Schröder and Eurocommerce London (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin) had the only double clear round in the Global Champions Tour leg in Rio on Sunday, and could take home 320.000 euros after a brillant performance. “When we bought Eurocommerce London I had a great feeling for the horse and after this it looks like we have a good chance when we go to London. Maybe that is why we gave him the name!” - Schröder stated at the press conferance after his great win.

It was a difficult course that met the riders in Rio de Janeiro, a course with championship-level to it.  The poles fell, and several riders looked as happy with four faults as they usually do after a clear round. Out of the first twenty riders Rodrigo Pessoa was the only clear. Top riders such as Steve Guerdat, Marco Kutscher and Marcus Ehning all had to se both three and four poles down. Other riders retired after several poles fell including Jeroen Dubbeldam and Leopold van Asten.  Luciana Diniz even got eliminated with Lennox.

After the first round there were only two clears with Pessoa and Gerco Schröder. Sheik Ali bin Khalid Al Thani had one time fault, and then there were six riders on four faults – Edwina Alexander, Michael Whitaker, Ludger Beerbaum, Judy-Ann Melchior, Philipp Weishaupt and Ben Maher. Three riders ended up at five penalties, and as much as eight riders got to the second round on eight faults.

There were more clears in the second round, but Schröder was the only rider to do the perfomance twice, which ment no jump-off in Rio. Edwina Alexander was second and with this she remaines on top of the Global Champions Tour ranking with Ludger on second place after a fifth place in Rio together with Chaman (Baloubet du Rouet x I Love You). Beerbaum's stable jockey Philipp Weishaupt made it an even better day for the Beerbaum stable as he was third with the nine year old promising stallion Monte Bellini (Montender x Ramiro).

Top five in Rio;

1. Gerco Schöder/Eurocommerce London 0/0

2. Edwina Alexander/Cevo Itot du Chateaux 4/0

3. Philipp Weishaupt 7Monte Bellini 4/0

4. Rodrigo Pessoa/Let's Fly 0/4

5. Ludger Beerbaum/Chaman 4/0
