The three star Grand Prix in Lyon had – as expected – a star studded field of riders in it, but it was Ludger Beerbaum and Chaman (Baloubet du Rouet x I Love You) that glittered tonight winning the class. Eight of the 39 riders moved on to the jump-off, were Ludger – who already has showed great form in the opening leg of the Longines FEI World Cup qualifier on Chaman – was fastest of them all in 31.54 seconds. Close behind followed another fantastic rider; Michael Whitaker on Amai (Nonstop x Bacara) in 32.11 seconds. Third was home rider Eugenie Angot riding Davendy S (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Pachat II) – also she clear in the time of 32.78 seconds.
Great Britain's William Funnell won the three star Grand Prix in Lummen aboard the lovely stallion Billy Congo (Vectha x Animo). Thirteen of the 57 riders moved on to chase the clock, and William was the best in 42.99 seconds. Then followed three home riders in second, third and fourth – Kim Thiry on Calisto van de Windheuvel (Kannan x Faylasouf), Mike van Olst on Entre Nous (Conan Z x Ohio van de Padenborre) and Brecht Bille on Lennox Luis (Levisto x Preussenulan).
