Grand Prix wins for Philippaerts in Spain and Frühmann in Austria

Monday, 17 March 2014

Olivier Philippaerts and Cabrio van de Heffinck - here seen in Rome. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Olivier Philippaerts made it a win in the three star Grand Prix at the Sunshine Tour yesterday riding the lovely Cabrio van de Heffinck. "This is a great boost," Olivier stated in a press release after his win on the 12 year old Cassini I-stallion. "This is our first win since Spruce Meadows in 2012 [...] I am the first to realize that this is only a three-star GP, but winning is winning. Cabrio has shown that he still can do it, and that's fantastic." The sympathetic Belgian rider left Dutchman Henk van der Pol on Willink (Twister x Landsieger) behind him in second, and Switzerland's Romain Duguet and the Kannan-daughter Quorida de Treho to third.

The two star Grand Prix in Wr. Neustadt went to the Austrian veteran Thomas Frühmann riding his faithful partner The Sixth Sense (Zorro T x Grannus-Granit). In second came Germany's Thomas Mühlbauer aboard Kid Rock 2 (Expert x Asti Spumante) – almost two seconds behind Frühmann on the time. Jurgen Stenfert from the Netherlands was third on Zabor (Regino x Calypso).
