Great Britain´s Olympic team announced

Sunday, 01 July 2012

Ben Maher and Tripple X will be on the team. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The four athletes that will represent Great Britain at the Olympic Games on home soil are: Scott Brash with Hello Sanctos, Peter Charles with Murka´s Vindicat W, Ben Maher with Tripple X and Nick Skelton with Big Star. Tina Fletcher with Hello Sailor will be Team Great Britain´s travelling reserve.

This means that Nick Skelton will do his sixth Olympic Games while Ben Maher will do his second. Peter Charles will do his first Games for Great Britian, but has represented Ireland two times before. For Scott Brash this will be his Olympic debut.

Andy Hunt, Team GB Chef de Mission says to Team GB´s website: "The selection of the jumping riders and their horses completes our equestrian line-up for the London 2012 Olympic Games. The athletes selected today have a good mix of experience and strong form leading up to the Games and with the support of the home crowd behind them at Greenwich Park I have every confidence they will deliver inspirational performances. Earning selection to compete at your seventh Olympic Games is a very special achievement and is a tribute to Nick Skelton's quality, determination and consistency. I am sure the other riders and athletes across Team GB will learn a lot from Nick's wealth of experience."
