When the notoriously fast Hans-Dieter Dreher enters a class with two horses – as he did in today’s Prix GL Events – the rest of the field of riders should look out. And that was exactly was Dreher made his competitors do today, as he came in as number eight to go in this class that counted 49 riders – where several entered with two horses. Dreher produced a fantastic clear around the 1.45/1.50 track on Galmbacher SPZ’s incredibly well jumping stallion Embassy II (Escudo I x Silvio I). Hansi was one of the riders that chose to take out strides on the related distances to the two combination, and with great success as he stopped the clock at 53.62. The German rider took the lead and stayed there throughout the class.
Closest came Pilar Cordon on Coriana van Klapscheut (Darco x Heartbreaker), who’s always dangerous against the clock. Although experiencing a bit of a too exciting moment when she came flying into the triple bar, the Spanish rider remained clear and was just 0.13 seconds behind Hansi’s time. Marcus Ehning did yet another picture perfect round in the Grand Palais aboard Copin van de Broy (Darco x Brownboy) – ending third at a time of 53.82 seconds. There was hard competition in the class with so many riders lined up to compete for the top prize, and fifteen riders went clear around the twelve fence track.
