Hans-Dieter Dreher is a hoof ahead in the Geneva Classic

Thursday, 12 December 2013

Hans-Dieter Dreher and Colore won the biggest class in Geneva on Thursday. Photo by World of Showjumping.Hans-Dieter Dreher and Colore (Contender x Lord) won the biggest class of the day in Geneva on Thursday, taking home the 1.50 Geneva Classic. The speed class had 50 riders in it, and out of these the five best qualified for Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix. Angelica Augustsoon took an early lead on the amazing Mic Mac du Tillard (Cruising x Galoubet A) – but was later in the class pushed down by Hansi, and then by Luciana Diniz on a very well jumping Upper Star (Metall x Zeus) that took second.

Only 0.29 seconds separated Hansi on top and Angelica in third, and the two last riders filling the qualifying spots were Tiffany Foster who rode a great round on Victor (Elmshorn x Grandeur) and Sergio Alvarez Moya on Zipper (Appel Juice x Concorde). There were only eight clears in the class, and poles fell easily in the big ring in Palexpo. The fastest clear of the day came from Abdelkebir Ouaddar, but unfortunately the a-element in the combination at fence seven fell.

Earlier in the day Gregory Wathelet won the 1.45 class riding Etoile M (Toulon x Lys de Darmen). Patrice Delaveau was second on Ornella Mail (Lando x Alligator Fontaine), with only 0.22 seconds between the two riders. Third went to Dermott Lennon on Hallmark Elite (Lord Byron Z x Renville).
