Hans Horn to coach Italy

Wednesday, 02 January 2013

Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. As of January Hans Horn starts his new job as trainer for Italy's showjumping team. Horn was previously Sweden's coach, but the contract ended after the Olympics. This will be the second time around for Hans to train the Italian riders, and he is looking forward to it. Horn's first goal is for the Italian team to do well at the European Championships in Denmark this summer.

"The Italian showjumping has struggled somewhat in recent years. Some good horses got sold and there is not much breeding in Italy, and it is not easy to buy good top horses in today's market," Hans says to dehoefslag.nl. A solution coming up to meet those challenges is what is going to be an Italian version of the "Springpaardenfonds Nederland". It is a private initiative taken by Vittorio Orlandi and the plan is to buy young horses that will be kept for later championships.
