The 1.50 Grand Prix in Lanaken went to Harrie Smolders and a very well jumping Emerald (Diamant de Semilly x Carthago). The nine year old stallion looked like a future championship horse around the Ratina Z arena in Lanaken Monday afternoon. The Grand Prix was set with thirteen fences, one oxer-vertical combination and a triple combination with a vertical followed by two oxers. Twelve out of the 62 riders competing were clear and went on to the jump-off. In the second round six of them again produced clear rounds fighting for the car that in the end was taken home by Harrie.
Harrie’s time was 0,43 seconds faster than runner-up, the Olympic Champion, Steve Guerdat and Sidney VIII (Carry x Quidam de Revel) who were just fractions ahead of Gregory Wathelet and Desteny van het Dennehof (Andiamo x Burggraaf) in third. Emerald’s owner Axel Verlooy /Eurohorse had a good day at work as they did not only secure first place. Axel’s son Jos was also double clear and ended fourth with another wonderful horse, the ten year old gelding Domino (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Azur Depaulstra).
