Holstein Spring Auction: Top price for Classic Edition

Wednesday, 02 April 2014

Classic Edition by Cancara – Casall (bred by Hark Martensen in Oldsum / Fohr) scored the top prize at the spring auction of the Holsteiner Verband in Elmshorn, Germany. Customers from Belgium purchased the well jumping five-year-old mare for 52,000 Euros. The average price of the 26 accepted auction horses amounted to 22,134 Euros.

The second most expensive horse was the dressage horse La Belle by Larimar –Alcatraz (ZG Stall Burgard, Bechhofen). She has a short way into her new stable. She was sold for 37,000 Euros to Hamburg.

Cunningham by Contendro I - Caretino bred by William Harring in Tönning will "migrate" to Canada. The four-year-old was auctioned for 36,000 Euros on the phone. "This year's auction has been running smoothly," said the long-time auctioneer Uwe Heckmann (Vechta), continuing "It was pleasing for the breeders that more than half of the horses could be sold for more than 20,000 Euros." The buyers this year came from Germany, Belgium, Poland, Norway, Italy, Canada and England to Elmshorn, in order to secure a promising young Holsteiner.
