The Global Champions Tour (GCT) has according to the International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC) requested the club to reconsider its position on the clashes between the GCT legs and the Nations Cup Top League legs in 2012. Following a request from GCT the FEI authorized clashes between the GCT and the Nations Cup Top League in 2012 on the condition that the 50 % best results of the 13 legs count for the GCT final ranking. The IJRC board supported the FEIs decision.
The current rule is thus as follows: ”Maximum fifty percent of the 2012 GCT Competitions held, rounded up to the next whole number will count for points to establish the 2012 GCT overall classification. Events on borrowed horses are excluded from this fifty percent maximum.” Click here for the rules. The GCT has however asked the IJRC to reconsider and support their request on authorizing clashes of the 2012 GCT legs and Nations Cup Top League legs in such a way that 70 % of the best results should count for the final GCT ranking.
The IJRC board states on their website that they stand by their decision, but that the board would like to hear the opinion of the club’s members. A poll has been organized on the club’s website and closes Friday 27th. In order to change the position of the board, more than 50 % of the club’s members must participate. The result will be communicated to the FEI.
The shows that clash are; the Nations Cup in Rome on the 24th-27th of May/the GCT in Wiesbaden, the Nations Cup in Falsterbo on the 12th-15th of July/the GCT in Estoril, the Nations Cup at Hickstead on the 19th-22nd of July/the GCT in Chantilly and the Nations Cup in Dublin on the 15th-19th of August/the GCT in Valkenswaard.
