Images | Showjumpers take to the sulky

Monday, 07 July 2014
Olympic Champion Steve Guerdat was one of the top riders that was challenged for a proper harness race at Jumping International Mons this weekend. The show takes place on the Hippodrome Wallonie, a racing mecca in Belgium. Here's Steve and Jos Verlooy getting ready to race! Photos by World of Showjumping.
Jos Verlooy, John Whitaker and Nicola Philippaerts playing around before start.
Kathi Offel was one of two girls in the race against four guys.
Steve takes hold of his sulky.
Nicola had no nerves at all!
John had done it before, and took a relaxed approach to warming up!
Nicola gets assistance while warming up his horse!
All smiles from Kathi (and a little royal wave)!
Steve looked like he had done little else in his life while warming up...
It was a proper race with two rounds, and the speed was incredible as the horses approached the start line...
 ...Jos thought so as well...
...while Steve just wanted it to go faster!
In the end nobody could beat Nicola who took a home win after an oustanding performance! Jos was second and Kathi third after two fast rounds around the track.
Steve was very happy with his race!
Kathi ended third - here with her horse owner.
Two defeated and dirty dudes; Steve and Jos...
The winning team! Do we smell a new career for Nicola?
