Patrice Delaveau is a constant danger against the clock, and in the Longines Grand Prix at the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show in Saint-Tropez it was no different. After an incredible fast jump-off on Carinjo HDC (Cascavelle x Landgraf I) the French rider won by over a second. All photos by World of Showjumping.
And it was a very happy Patrice that could celebrate at the top of the podium afterwards. Here he receives a kiss from his owner Emmanuèle Perron-Pette.
Runner-up was Nicola Philippaerts on his World Cup-winner from Gothenburg earlier this year Donatella-N (Vigo d'Arsouilles x Burggraaf).
Rodrigo Pessoa has already formed a great partnership with Status (Satisfaction x Sao Paulo). The Brazilian rider rode two brilliant clear rounds to end third.
As usual Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) impressed with his jumping, ending fourth in the Grand Prix with Marcus Ehning.
There were six double clears in the Grand Prix, and the fifth place belonged to another home rider - Philippe Rozier on the Quidam de Revel-son Rahotep de Toscane.
While number six was Katharina Offel on the fantastic little mare B Once Z (Baloubet du Rouet x Lavaletto).
Doda de Miranda - husband of hostess Athina - really went for it in the jump-off, but AD Nouvelle Europe Z (Nelson Z x Jimtown) clipped the first element of the combination and the pair had to settle for 7th although with the fastest time of the class.
Nr. eight in the Grand Prix was Ireland's Marc McAuley riding Isco de Amoranda, also he with one pole down in the jump-off.
There were no less than four Brazilian riders in the jump-off in the Grand Prix, and the third one was Eduardo Menezes on Quintol (Quintender x Cento) who finished as nr. nine.
Marlon Zanotelli showed great form the entire weekend, and also made it to the jump-off in the Grand Prix on AD Clouwni (Colman x La Zarras), but unfortunately had the penultimate oxer down to finish 10th.
The third home rider in the jump-off was Aymeric De Ponnat with Armitages Boy (Armitage x Feo). The pair finished 11th after one pole down.
12th in the Grand Prix was Australia's Amy Graham on Bella Baloubet (Baloubet du Rouet Landadel) who had the final vertical down in the jump-off.
Gerco Schröder and Glock's London (Nabab de Reve x Chin Chin) finished just outside the ribbons in the Grand Prix as the slowest four-faulter in the jump-off.
Hostess Athina Onassis de Miranda almost made it to the jump-off after collecting only a time penalty on AD Camille Z in the first round.
