Jesper Romp rides to victory on home soil in the CSI3* Ommen Grand Prix

Monday, 18 August 2014

Jesper Romp and Balouska - here seen in Paris earlier this year. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. It was a case of total domination by the home riders in the CSI3* Ommen Grand Prix, with four out of the top five riders being Dutch. Best of them all was 19 year old Jesper Romp riding Balouska (Stakkato Gold x Pluspunkt), a horse that also was Jesper's partner at the European Championships for Young Riders in Arezzo earlier this summer. A German rider sneaked into second as Tim Rieskamp-Gödeking and Lauterman (Lauterbach x Liberty Life) finished off 0.13 seconds behind Romp in the jump-off. Third place went to Gerco Schröder on Cognac Champblanc (Clearway), Willem Greve ended fourth on Carambole (Cassini I x Concerto Ii) and Nathalie van der Mei was fifth on Africa (Guidam x Voltaire).

In Saturday's 1.50 class Ireland's Darragh Kenny continued his excellent form to win on Chin Quidan VDL (Chin Chin x Quidam De Revel), while Karim El Zoghby also went on with his winning mood taking the win in Friday's 1.50 class on Colour Girl (Cormint x Locato).
