Jur Vrieling wins the Grolsch Grand Prix of Twente

Sunday, 29 June 2014

Jur Vrieling and the lovely VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P. won the three star Grand Prix in Geesteren. Photo by World of Showjumping. It ended with a home win at the CSI3* show in Geesteren on Sunday, as Jur Vrieling went to the top aboard a very well jumping VDL Zirocco Blue N.O.P. (Mr. Blue x Voltaire). With one of only two double clears in the class, Jur's second round was by far the fastest one riding to a time that was three seconds quicker than that of runner-up Gerben Morsink on Faithfull (For Keeps x Amor) – also he a Dutch rider. Sweden's Alexander Zetterman and Cafino (Cardento x Roderik) ended third with one pole down against the clock. Only five riders went clear in the first round to move on to the jump-off.

Due to the ground conditions over twenty of the riders in the class retired or withdrew their horses during the class, as it got progressively worse by every rider that entered the ring - also due to rainfall.
