Kay's Wednesday tweets turned blog from Geneva

Wednesday, 05 December 2012

Kay is on the road again, and this weekend you can follow her here on WoSJ from Geneva. This weekend, Marcus Ehning's head groom Kay Neatham returns as our guest tweeter from Geneva. But, sometimes it not easy to get a cooperative internet - so instead of tweets, Kay has send us a blog entry where she tells all about her day and her thoughts on the weekend. Enjoy:

Off to Geneva, the indoor Aachen at the end of the year. I have been coming here since 2000 when I was first here with Beat Mandli and Pozitano, it is a very special show and normally the best of the best are always here, it has been (what I think ) the home of the Top 10 Final for many a year. Each year this is a very exciting evening, where even all of us who are not involved make sure everything is done and sit down to watch the class, of course some one always sets up a back stage betting system, just to make it a little more exciting. To win in Geneva has to be the dream of many a rider and many a groom, I know its one of mine, the first win I remember watching was Lars Nieberg with For Pleasure, it was the first time he put him in a hackamore, I want to say it was 1996 but I could be wrong. I was working for him at home then, the start of my journey.....

My trip really started at 7am on tuesday morning, rode some horses, worked with our vets, had a hot lunch, our horse dentist, did all the packing, got the truck ready, sorted things a bit a home, had a snack dinner with Celia, ironed my now dry jeans, packed my stuff, showered, watch CSI Miami, spoke briefly with 2 friends, walked out the door, made the horses ready to travel, loaded the truck and luckily Martin is with to drive, so hit the highway running south, then slept for 5 hours, I drove 70km (heaven) border, love the Swiss and their taxes, papers all good, 2 hours more sleep, coffee and here we are.....

I arrived to find Emma hadn't got around to sweeping yet, so the first thing I did was take a picture, miracles do happen!!! At 7pm Terri asked if I was going to sweep this weekend because she wasn't so keen on living next to the amateurs ie me!!! I told her I'd left straw everywhere extra so the horses didn't slip on the plastic tiles, gave her something to think about, an hour later, she said 'seriously you are not gonna sweep?!!' Ok,ok of course, 2 seconds!!! Does she believe everything I say???

Vet check all good, although there were some very wild horses flying around at times.
I have the dream team with this weekend Plot Blue is back from breeding and Moppy (alias Copin) and shhhhuussss very quiet Plot still doesn't know she's here Kuche. I keep Plot well away from his favourite lady at shows, otherwise his hormones tend to over take his brain. Kuche is stabled about 10 boxes away from him by Kirstin and Corradina.

Rode plot 10mins in the big ring and decide he felt more like a pitbull ready for attack, so opted for a longe line, after crazy Plot disappeared I got back on again!!!! I love having the young horses with!!!!

Rode Moppy too he's fresh but always the perfect gentleman. Kuche stretched her legs on the longe.

Its 2245 and I still have to sweep out the truck and shower, then I will die in bed.....hope to get the internet working tomorrow and twitter, my apologies that I was un able to do it today...
