«I am going to take some rest”. Kevin Staut had announced it at the end of September, staying away from jumping arenas in this early autumn. Truth be told, the “rest” is quite relative. The French rider is about to fly to Phnom Penh, Cambodia on October 4th. He will visit two schools, Stung Mean Chey and Borey Keila, two projects supported by JustWorld International, for which he has been an ambassador since 2007. This trip also coincides with the launch of the new campaign, Give 4 Good* for which the rider has become the ambassador of the « Education in Cambodia » programme ».
This 4-day-trip has been scheduled for a long time and is in direct line with Kevin Staut’s long-term involvement with JustWorld International. A support reaffirmed last spring. "As an ambassador for JustWorld International, I now feel ready to do more than just giving a percentage of my prize-money”, said the rider.
In Phnom Penh, Kevin Staut will meet children of two schools. These two structures welcome roughly 830 pupils and their families, in a long while forgotten place, located not far from a slum. The rider will discuss with schoolchildren, attend their courses, share his experiences of elite sportsman with them. He will also meet the voluntaries daily acting on this project. Talking but above all listening.
The visibility of this visit will be strengthened by the participation of a third partner, the TV channel Equidia. The rider explains: “Equidia, a JustWorld partner, is the ideal media to make people aware of the association and its activities.” Equidia will follow Staut during his 4-day-visit in Phnom Penh and will produce a reportage broadcasted later in the autumn on Equidia Life.
For the 2009 European Champion, this trip will be emotionally intense. His sister, Jade, will accompany him. “Jade was adopted when she was 6 months old. She comes from Phnom Penh but has never been back there since she first arrived to France. I am very much looking forward to living this experience with her”, said Staut.
For the charitable organization JustWorld International, Kevin Staut’s first visit to the project in Cambodia is yet another showcase of his involvement and invaluable support. Jessica Newman, Founder and Executive Director of JustWorld International explains it: “The further involvement of Kevin with his visit on the project that we support in Cambodia is a new very concrete step. Equidia will additionally provide us with an exceptional visibility towards the equestrian community. This visit and the consecutive reportage should contribute to increase awareness for JustWorld's efforts and show viewers the reality of hundreds of children, also often orphans.”
Kevin Staut is to arrive in Phnom Penh in the evening of Saturday 5th October. The journey will end on Tuesday 8th October in the evening.
