After a bit of a down period, Kevin Staut returned to the top in Cannes on Saturday. On Major de Coquerie the French rider managed to be the fastest one in the Accumulator class Prix Groupe Martel RP Service. Denis Lynch on Night Train was first to go, and the Irish rider really put some pressure on the riders to come with a great time – and for about ten starters he kept the lead.
Then Philippe Rozier came in and gave it his all, and went three seconds faster on Ideal de Roy. Nino des Buissonnets, that is Steve Guerdat’s ride, is a horse to watch for the future. Yet again Nino jumped amazing and slotted into second place. Some more riders were trying to catch Philippe, but it wasn´t until Edwina Alexander came into the ring on Mel d'Argences that someone actually succeeded. Edwina did a really fast round, and the horse made some unbelievable jumps.
It looked like Edwina was going to win the class, but as third last to go Kevin Staut wasn’t going to miss the chance to win. On Major de Coquerie, Kevin did a round that didn´t look especially fast at all – but with the stallion’s enormous canter they covered a lot of ground and went on to win the class.
