Khaled Al Eid wins the World Cup Grand Prix in Doha

Tuesday, 30 December 2014

Top three: Khaled Al Eid, Edwina Tops-Alexander and Bassem Hassan Mohammed. Photo by Hareth Al-Qahtani. With a total of 22 riders who participated in the Doha-Al-Rayyan CSI3* World Cup Grand Prix, the 8th Arab League competition 20 points went to Khaled Al Eid of Saudi Arabia. Khaled approved once again his skills and won the Doha Top Class on Monday evening.

Riding Valuta S (Quintero x Coronado) the Saudi rider was the best of nine combinations in the jump-off. Al Eid ended his 2nd round with zero penalty within 65.00 seconds.

The Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander came in the 2nd spot on her great 12-year stallion Old Chap Tame (Carthago x Quidam de Revel). Edwina was able to finish her jump-off without any penalties in a time of 65.74 seconds. The third position went to home rider Bassem Hassan Mohammed on Palloubet D'Halong (Baloubet Du Rouet x Muguet Du Manior) this time. Bassem was truly unlucky to have a fence down within 60.18 seconds.

"Valuta is a very difficult mare, it took me a long time to train her in the low levels just to reach the 1.60 level. She is 9-year old only and I think that we could do more great wins in the future," Khaled says.
