Lady Forbes' horses to return from Kürten against security of 300 000 Euros

Friday, 08 April 2011

Jessica Kürten must now return her Castle Forbes horses; amongst them Myrtille Paulois. Photo Dirk Caremans/FEI.The disagreement in relation to the return of Lady Georgina Forbes’ horses Libertina, Myrtille Paulois, Cosma, Vivaldo and Paddington has been settled with a decision from the higher regional court in Düsseldorf. Lady Georgina Forbes and Irish rider Jessica Kürten have been in conflict since January, when it was known that Lady Forbes requested the return of her horses. Kürten disagreed on the facts around the contractual relation with Lady Forbes, and the termination of the contract.

After the regional court of Duisburg rejected the request for a provisional order in January 2011, Lady Forbes will now be able to take the horses back. Lady Forbes must however make a deposit for security at a value of 300,000 Euros to take the horses back at this point.

Claims regarding compensation and losses will apparently be dealt with in separate and further proceedings.
