Leprevost lands the Longines Christmas Tree Stakes, while Renwick rides to a home win at Olympia

Friday, 20 December 2013

Penelope Leprevost won at Olympia. Photo by Kit Houghton/Horsepower.Friday night's Longines Christmas Tree Stakes at Olympia went to France’s leading lady rider Penelope Leprevost. Riding the eight year old Flora de Mariposa (For Pleasure x Power Light), Penelope was 0.19 seconds faster in the jump-off than yesterday’s winners Jur Vrieling and VDL Bubalu (Baloubet du Rouet x Indoctro). Then followed two British riders, as living legend John Whitaker ended third on Argento (Arko III x Gaspe) ahead of Scott Brash in fourth on Bon Ami (Pavarotti vd Helle x Richebourg).

Earlier in the day there was also finally a home win at Olympia as Laura Renwick took home the Earls Court Olympia Christmas Cracker on Oz de Breve (Dollar du Murier x Grand Veneur). Riding one of the fourteen clears in the class, the British rider was the fastest at 48.67 seconds. Then followed in-form rider Peder Fredricson on H&M Sibon (Sibon W x Baloubet du Rouet) – just a little behind at 48.90, while Harrie Smolders slotted into third on Regina Z (Rex Z x Savoy Hanover).
