Luxembourg leads the way in the CSIO3* Nations Cup in Celje

The winning team from left to right Victor Bettendorf, Christian Weier, Noémie Goergen, Marcel Ewen and team chef Marcus Wenz.It was a big win for a small country in the CSIO3* Nations Cup in Celje, Slovenia this weekend as Luxembourg went to the top in the three star Nations Cup. Twelve countries had lined up teams to compete for the win, but it was Luxembourg that went out as the victorious team on a thirteen penalty score ahead of Poland in second on nineteen and Italy in third on twenty tied with the Czech Republic. Christian Weiher on Global (0/1), Victor Bettendorf on Sorbier Blanc (4/0), Noemie Goergen on Smint 2 (8/4) and Marcel Ewen on Orgoueil Fontaine (12/0) took part in the winning team.

"It has been a tremendous event for us," Christian Weiher comments to World of Showjumping. "Luxembourg has not started in a Nations Cup for a long time and we have been hesitant to take part in any, since we have a shortage of riders and horses. The first attempt has been a success, and I hope this will give the sport in our small country a little boost."
