Lynch still number one on the FEI Olympic Athletes Ranking

Photo by Hanne Christensen/worldofshowjumping.comDenis Lynch continues to top the FEI Olympic Athletes Ranking for jumping in the Olympic Groups A & B. The ranking now includes results from 1.1.2011-30.11.2011. The 30 best results for each rider over the period from 1.1.2011-1.3.2012 will count on the final ranking that will be released in March 2012. Lynch has 1955 points on the latest ranking, and Luciana Diniz follows in second on1883 points. Billy Twomey is still rank three with 1881 points, while Sergio Alvares Moya is fourth on 1663 points. Ireland is strongly represented among the ten riders on top of the ranking with five of them being Irish. The Olympic Group C has a new leader with Vladimir Tuganov from Russia on top.


The Olympic qualification system for the individual showjumpers reserves 15 quota places for NOCs not represented by teams, each athlete with one horse, with a maximum of two athletes per NOC. Out of these fifteen places, three go to the NOCs of the three best ranked individuals from Olympic Qualification Group A or B on the FEI Olympic Athletes Ranking – Jumping, as of 1 March 2012. Another two go to the NOCs of the two best ranked individuals from Olympic Qualification Group C on the FEI Olympic Athletes Ranking – Jumping, as of 1 March 2012.
