Manfred Ege on top at the Magna Racino Spring Tour

Sunday, 29 April 2012

Ege’s eight year old Holsteiner mare Utopia (by Concas) showed courage and took risks, to end up on top – the biggest success of Ege’s career. With the time of 39.01 seconds the pair separated themselves from their fellow competitors much to the joy of Frank Stronach, from the title sponsor Serena Hamberg, who watched the tense jump-off.

The course was long at 510 meters, the height was set at 1.50 m and course designer Stefan Wirth technical pitfalls were spread out across the 13 fence track to make it difficult. Only six of the 50 riders in the final went through to the jump-off with the € 25,000 prize and FEI Rolex World Jumping Rankings points.

Beat Mändli and Colore. © Hervé Bonnaud- www.1clicphoto.com & Tomas Holcbecher - www.holcbecher.com.Runner-up was Beat Mandli (SUI), who successfully steered Colore to a fast time at 39.33 seconds. Third place went to Fritz Fevers (GER) and Dream of Glory Van de Kruishoeve who also produced a fast clear round in the jump-off. It was a nervous moment for Manfred Ege, however, when the very young Turkish rider Azak Burak produced the fastest time of the class, but had one down and was pushed down to sixth.

The Gold Tour Finale went to Marc Bettinger (GER) on Oh D'Eole, who left over 80 competitors behind him. Twelve riders made it to the jump-off, and there Bettinger’s compatriot Dirk Schröder ended second with the Colman-son Clearly Zero. Therese Henriksen (NOR) ended third with Emotion van't Beugelhof.
