Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof's Uppity secure another Dutch win at the Longines Hong Kong Masters

Sunday, 23 February 2014

Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof's Uppity won the Prix Massimo Dutti in Hong Kong on Sunday. Photo by World of Showjumping.Yesterday they were second, but on Sunday they made it all the way to the top; Marc Houtzager and Sterrehof’s Uppity won the Prix Massimo Dutti in Hong Kong. The pair had a rough start on Friday, but the 13 year old gelding by Guidam x Epilot recovered very well indeed to bounce back to the top both today and yesterday. Coming in as number seventeen to go, Marc raced around the twelve fence 1.45 track set by Luc Musette – doing the seemingly impossible as he shaved off 0.75 seconds on Roger Yves Bost’s time on Castle Forbes Cosma (Couleur-Rubin x Peter Pan).

The remaining seven riders all made an effort to catch the Dutch rider, but today he was too fast for the rest. Closest came Marc’s compatriot Maikel van der Vleuten who rode a super fast round on VDL Groep Eureka (Chin Chin x Quidam de Revel) as second last to go. He was still 0.75 seconds slower than Marc though and had to settle for second, pushing Bosty down to third.
