Marcus Ehning won the three star Grand Prix in Herning on the lovely grey stallion Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat). Together with fourteen other riders Marcus went on to the jump-off after riding clears in the first round. The German rider was first to go in the jump-off, and put some real pressure on those to come when he produced one of his trade mark tremendous round. Marcus got a super forward distance on the line with the third and the fourth fence, and then followed up with a great turn to the next vertical before he went inside to the penultimate combination and galloped on to the final oxer – crossing the finish line 42.02 seconds.
None of those to come could catch him, and a lot of faults occurred when Marcus’ competitors tried to catch his time. The next three to go in the ring - Steve Guerdat, Pius Schwizer and Juan Carlos Garcia - all did mistakes. Vladimir Beletsky was next to go clear though, and on Mats´ Up du Plessis (Verdi x Jalisco B) he went into second on 43.43 where he stayed to the end of the class. Then followed Olivier Philippaerts on Denver van T Goemanshof (Vigo d´Arsouilles x Heartbreaker), and also he went clear with a nice and smooth round to slot into third on the time 43.46. The remaining riders could not catch this trio, who ended up on top.
